I was looking forward Never Feed A Dragon by Lola Glass from the moment I finished book one. We knew back then, when the bickering started between Vi and Eli, that we were getting them in a story, and I couldn’t wait.

Premise
Vi really disliked Eli Sky, but since his brother was marrying her twin sister she was bound and determined to end their bickering, with a big bowl of homemade spaghetti. And sure he might have spread a little white lie about them being mates in order to keep other women away from him. And okay so maybe the best way to move past their rivalry was to break the tension between them. Except, in the heat of the moment they accidentally find themselves in a mate bond – and yes, pun intended.

My Thoughts
Not quite enemies but always getting under each other’s skin, Vi and Eli are a banter and bickering dream come true for a romance reader. There is something about those rivals to lovers, especially when a bit of pining is thrown in the mix.
Vi had disastrous end to her last relationship, that ruined love and all relationships for her. She has absolutely zero intention of getting involved with anyone else. So when the unexpected mate bond is sealed during what should have been a one time only event she’ll try to make the best of a bad situation but she won’t let herself fall for her mate.
“Heat starts when a dragon’s magic selects a mate. Mine chose you, finally.” – Never Feed a Dragon by Lola Glass
Meanwhile, Eli is going to take whatever she will give him while at the same time trying to prove to her that it’s different. He understands what she’s been through, but he won’t let her hide away from him. If all she can offer is friendship with a benefits situation during heat, than he’ll work with that until she’s comfortable with potentially being more.
I’d give her the space she needed, because it was my only chance at convincing her that she would like spending her life with me. Even if it killed me a little. – Never Feed a Dragon by Lola Glass
The banter between these two is fantastic, they pick at each other but deep down they care deeply. Neither of them wants to hurt the other.
I personally loved the way Eli let’s Vi take the lead in their relationship. Letting her decide how far they will go and what labels can be assigned to them. He supports her when everyone else tries to tell her she can’t do things the way she’s planning. He’s the first to tell her that it’s not anybody else’s business what they decide is right for them.
“But I already claimed that role,” he said, and kissed my neck yet again. “I’m the one who loves more, and I’m positively fucking thrilled with that. You can try to push me away, you can try not to fall for me—but regardless of what you do, I’ll always be here, loving you.” – Never Feed a Dragon by Lola Glass
We get spice early in this book, and often. These two were a powder keg waiting to explode and when it finally did it was epic. And that spice continues throughout the book.
The character growth that Vi went through was absolutely beautiful. She wasn’t ready to commit, didn’t want to commit, and she had to get there on her own. She eventually did, with the patience and support of Eli.
This book was a reminder that relationships don’t need to all look or be the same, that only a couple can decide what is right for them. And I loved it.
All the usual suspects appeared in this book and we got to see more of the Vi and Randa, her twin, dynamic. All of the side characters played an important role in the telling of this story, but at the same time, I really enjoyed that Vi and Eli both did their own thing despite the advice they were getting.
If you want a high heat, banter filled, paranormal romantic comedy that will have you giggle kicking and rooting for the main couple, this is the book for you.
