As a plus-size woman myself, I love romance books with plus-size FMC’s who are living their best life. She’s typically confident, kind, and funny, which are all traits I love to see in an FMC regardless of her size. She’ll take no shit, while typically fully being that best friend you can always count on.

Romance Books with Plus-Size FMC’s
Today I want to give you a list of recommended romance books with plus-size FMC’s. It’s a body loving, no weight loss, confident and happy space here. So let’s dive in.
Jackal by April D Berry
Shivana’s plan was to visit her friend, not get kidnapped, rescued, and end up inside of a motorcycle club compound and eyeing up a biker daddy she can’t stop thinking about. Jackal has been a nomad most of his life, but he’s putting down roots. Regardless that he can’t seem to take his eyes off Shivana, she’s too good for the sometimes dangerous life he leads.
Close proximity and high chemistry leaps off the page with this couple. Shiv knows exactly who she wants and isn’t afraid to go after that, well, him. Jackal is the third book in the Destiny’s Enforcers series. I do recommend reading the books before this as there is an overarching plot in the series.

Bowling with Bigfoot by Eden Crowe
Eric Sasqui has been a long time rival of Hazel’s. In high school they were in constant competition. He was loved by the town while Hazel’s family had been through hell. Even in adulthood they compete on different bowling teams. Except when another man decides to get handsy with Hazel, it’s Eric who comes to her protection and suddenly she’s seeing a whole different side to Bigfoot.
A small town paranormal romantic comedy Bowling with Bigfoot is a complete standalone. However, the characters in this town are absolutely amazing so I do recommend reading the first book in the series, Dirty Deals Over Decaf, too.

Camera Shy by Kay Cove
On her thirtieth birthday, Avery is expecting a ring from her long time boyfriend, and she gets it. Unfortunately, he suddenly realizes he doesn’t actually want to marry her directly after the proposal and ends up dumped instead. Desperate to escape and go have a sad girl summer, she takes the opportunity to house sit and ends up next door neighbors with Finn, whose willing to make her feel like a queen again.
You want to talk about female empowerment and women embracing their sexuality? This is a fantastic book for that. You have a woman who in a moment went from believing it was the happiest day of her life to suddenly feeling that she wasn’t good enough, thin enough, or sexy enough. She asks for Finn’s help in learning to be sexy, and he basically teaches her that she already is.

Dance with the Devil by Amanda Richardson
When Frankie’s boss, Dante, requests her to attend a medical conference with him she agrees, only because the grumpy bosshole would be lost without her. Even worse, when she arrives, the hotel is completely booked out, and she has to share his suite. At least he reminds her to lock the bedroom door at night due to his sleep walking condition. But as tension sizzles between them she begins to wonder if she should continue to lock the door.
Check your triggers on this one, readers. While not entirely dark there are still dub/con themes dealing with a sleep disorder that you’ll want to be aware of going in. The tension and banter between our MC’s is fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Mountain Boss by SJ Tilly
Courtney’s got a new job contract and she’s hopeful that this time things will work out for her. However, after packing everything she owned and driving across the country to Black Mountain Lodge, Sterling Black isn’t thrilled about the new addition to his team. He even tries to fire her the moment she arrives, but Courtney is desperate and convinces him to keep her on and he’ll find a way to make her quit.
SJ Tilly writes the possessive and protective men I love to read about and Sterling was no different. An age gap, boss/employee romance where the broody boss has met his match in sunshine Courtney who will tackle any project and complete it.

I Met Him At The Library by Jayne Katway
Ryan’s had a crush on Emily since the first day he saw her walk into his library, unfortunately he’s a bit shy when it comes to making the first approach. Oh and the first approach is awkward, except when small town politics threaten the funding of the library Emily, Ryan, and their friend group are willing to fight back.
Shameless Self Promo – Yes, I’m a dark romance author, but even dark romance authors sometimes like to write a sweet and spicy romance that’s low-angst and cute. That is I Met Him At The Library by me, Jayne Katway. And, you know, maybe there is a touch of protectiveness thrown in because how could I not?
Hungry For Love by Liz Zerkel
Siobhan is ready to do more with her pop-up kitchen, she just needs the funding. So signing up for Hungry for Love, a reality dating show that incorporates cooking challenges, didn’t seem like a bad idea. That is until she sees exactly who she was paired up with. Childhood friend turned enemy, Ethan.
Tension, banter, and heat collide in this hilarious rom-com that asked the question what if you mashed up Love Island with British Bake-Off. Yes, Liz is a friend of mine, but honestly, this book is not talked about enough. It’s a fantastic cozy read that will have you giggle kicking and biting your lip.
Takeover by Evelyn Sola
Ethan Bradford made an enemy of Tara when he signed the paperwork that made him the boss instead of her. She was set to takeover her father’s toy company until Ethan came along. However, as much as she wants to put the jerk in his place, but running into him and his son, seeing a side she didn’t think existed, is changing her point of view.
An enemies to lovers workplace romance, you’ll get heart and plenty of heat in this story. There is excellent banter, loads of tension, and a story that leaves you begging for more like it. I absolutely devoured this book.
The Holly Dates by Brittainy C Cherry
Kai couldn’t take his eyes off Holly. Every time she entered her restaurant it was with another first date, and it was starting to irritate him. He even starts giving her advice, because he wants her to move past the first date with anyone and get out of his restaurant. That is until she hits it off with someone and starts to wonder if maybe he wanted to be the one to take her somewhere else.
I absolutely adored this book. It is holiday themed, and so freaking adorable. This is a strangers to friends to lovers with a dash of fake dating thrown in that will keep you laughing and flipping pages searching for the HEA we all want.
Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher
Declan has to get married and have a baby fast, not for any other reason besides his grandfather’s will. Iris, his long time assistant, is helping him in this venture, except it’s not working out well for her. Especially when it’s her he decides to marry and procreate with. Falling in love is out of the question. But the lines blur the more they pretend to be madly in love with each other.
The second book in the Dreamland Billionaires series, and a must read. Declan is our broody, grumpy, career focused MMC, and Iris is his no-nonsense assistant who handles him better than anyone else ever could. Endless banter mixed with heavy obligations from both parties gives this book high tension and heart.
Undressed by Jayne Katway
It’s just one night, sex with a stranger and all her financial woes would be solved. One night. Until Leo Teresi walks into that room, after winning her in an auction, and changes everything for her. Now he’s willing to cover up a crime she committed, as long as she’ll agree to marry him. She’d been “married” before, and it couldn’t be worse than that, right?
Another Shameless Self Promo – Undressed is the fifth book in the Unrelenting series and I do recommend reading the previous books in the series before reading this. If you like found family, vigilante mercenaries, mafia, and a marriage of convenience, you’ll love Undressed.
How To Fall In Lust with the Devil by Lola Glass
Born human among three over-protective dragon shifter older brothers, the last thing Brynn wanted was the oldest of them to move into her apartment with her. It was ruining her plans to her shed her mortality by becoming a vampire. And when August gets called back to his job, she thinks she’ll finally be able to do it, that is until he drags her to Bash Villin and makes a deal with him that mean she’ll be watched over Bash instead.
A paranormal rom-com that’s filled with banter, tension, and a whole lot of heat these two potential mates are perfect for each other. If only Bash would stop to realize just how great they could be together. With the help of his mother Brynn is determined to make Bash hers and will go to any length to get him to see that.

Curvy Girl FMC’s
Most of these romance books with plus-size FMC’s are portrayed in a positive light, while not diminishing the struggles that many plus-size women go through. I personally love reading books with representation of my own body type, not because fat girls deserve love – we do btw – but because I am happy with my body.
Genuinely, I am happy with my size 22 ass. That doesn’t mean I don’t struggle with other feelings based on the way society views me for being “overweight.” I like reading about women who are big, who have curves, who have bellies, cellulite, and thick thighs, who are proud of it but still have feelings about how they’re treated because of it. I am them and they are me.
Mid-size and plus-size representation in books is not to give us hope but to make us not feel alone. To make us realize that we can be proud of our bodies, wear whatever the hell we want, and enjoy them to the fullest extent. This representation is important, valued, and necessary.
Have you read any of the books in this list? Or are you adding some new romance books with plus-size FMC’s to your own TBR? Let me know in the comments below, I love interacting with other readers over books I also enjoyed.
