With the threat of another reading slump, and over all depression, settling in, I knew it was time to dive into the Sleet series and pick up Sleet Kitten by SJ Tilly. Nothing like a comfort author pulling you from the depth’s of despair to set everything right.
Sleet Kitten by SJ Tilly
Sleet Kitten by SJ Tilly is the first book in the Sleet series. It is a hockey romance published on January 1st, 2023 and is 324 pages long. You can find the book on Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, and the author’s website here.

Premise
When Jackson spots Katelyn perusing the books in an off limits area of his penthouse, his first question was how did she sneak past the workers upstairs. The second question was how could he keep her there. His third question was how did he convince this woman to see him again. Not willing to take the chance that she’d reject him, he got her contact information from her cousin who was throwing the party upstairs.
Sending a ticket to his next game, and a jersey with his name of the back, convinced her to show up. But interruption after interruption keeps these two from finding time to get to know each other better. That and a conniving ex that he wants nothing to do with.

My Thoughts
Right off the bat I loved Katelyn, slightly awkward and introverted, she is me. The last thing I would want to do is be rubbing elbows with donors at a party my cousin was throwing. But that is where we find Katelyn.
And when her incredibly vain ex-boyfriend makes an appearance, Katelyn is desperate for a hiding place to avoid the run-in. She darts down to the lower level of the penthouse and finds heaven, a library with homemade caramel. Oh and a tall, handsome, buff man – the owner of said library.
“You, my little Kitten, have some claws hidden in that enticing package. And right now, I’m looking at the only gorgeous creature that has captured my attention tonight.’” – Sleet Kitten by SJ Tilly
The meet cute gets off to a rocky start but Jackson isn’t gonna let this opportunity pass him by. He’s interested and he’s going to do everything he can to win over Katelyn.
“His face darkens. “Want me to go kick his ass?” Laughing, I say, “Desperately.” Jackson turns towards the stairs, which only causes me to laugh harder. Lunging forward I grab his arm and choke out, “I was kidding!” – Sleet Kitten by SJ Tilly
I got serious insta-love vibes from these two, but it is a slow burn. They slow it down a lot even though they’re having some pretty intense emotions for each other. And I loved how SJ Tilly made it work.
There wasn’t a whole lot of spice in this story, but what we did get was chef’s kiss. The heat between these two characters flew right off the page and I loved every minute of it.
“Smacking my arm, Kitten scolds me, “Don’t you dare!” I grin like a fool. The girl I like just touched me.” – Sleet Kitten by SJ Tilly
Through most of the book it was pretty low angst, until we get toward the end, so the emotions just hit you in the gut. Katelyn is smart and funny, and quick with the banter. Jackson is alpha-esque without it being completely overbearing. Still these two had quite a few obstacles to overcome.
SJ Tilly does found family extremely well, so be prepared for side characters that you will fall in love with. Personally, Mary was my favorite side character.
Overall the book was a sweet but spicy slow burn that provided loads of giggle kicks and laughs.
