From the moment I picked up Sleet Banshee by SJ Tilly, I knew I was going to love Meghan and Sebastian. This book took me through an emotional ride of two people scared to let themselves love but who are insanely loyal to those they do.
Sleet Banshee by SJ Tilly
Sleet Banshee by SJ Tilly is the third book in the Sleet series. It is a hockey romance published on January 1st, 2023 and is 368 pages long. You can find the book on Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, and the author’s website here.
Premise
Meghan was just trying to help her friend Izzy get closer to Zach, but unfortunately it left her alone in a special kind of messed up haunted house attraction. That is until Sebastian strolls up behind her. He’s teasing her, she’s teasing him back, and before she knows it, she’s making out with the Goalie in the middle of a corn maze.
But while her stomach is flipping and her heart is beating out of her chest, she knows that this is just fun. He’s a player, not interested in anything serious, and she has to guard herself from the pain that will eventually come when he decides he no longer wants to see her.

My Thoughts
Right off the bat I loved Meghan. A business owner, baker, witty, and sarcastic woman she’s exactly the type of FMC I gravitate toward. She’s incredibly self aware while also standing up for herself and those she cares about. She’s also forgiving, understanding, and a bit empathetic.
Sebastian is goal oriented, but funny. He isn’t as self aware, especially when it comes to his emotions, but he’s still capable of realizing when he fucks up. Additionally, the grovel! I mean this man got down on his knees and begged for forgiveness.
These two are a perfect match for each other, even if their start was a bit on the rocky side. Their personalities work. He can be an asshole, but she’ll put him in his place. On the flip side, she’ll doubt herself and he’ll lift her up and prove she’s on the right track. I loved the dynamic between Meghan and Sebastian.
“Baby, you’re gonna want to stop wiggling that sweet ass against me if you don’t want to find out just how not teeny-tiny I really am.” – Sleet Banshee by SJ Tilly
Surprisingly, this book had an early spicy scene but then we didn’t get another for a long time. Didn’t matter to me, however, because the story kept me engaged. There was so much tension, flirting, and banter between these two that I just kept flipping those pages.
What I loved the most was the character growth between these two. Meghan was the fun friend, always in her friends business, but when things got tough for her, when she pulled away from everyone, she realized how much of a mistake that was.

Likewise, no matter how much Sebastian tried to keep Meghan at arm’s length, unwilling to commit, he soon realized that it was a mistake. Furthermore, he consistently showed up for her, he might have been late a couple of times, but he kept figuring it out.
“There’s a reason I call you Banshee, Megs. You live in your own world and do your own thing.” He gives me a squeeze. “If I think about it too hard, I’ll give myself a fucking ulcer.” – Sleet Banshee by SJ Tilly
You get a real sense of found family in this story and I absolutely loved that. Not only were Izzy and Katelyn consistently there for Meghan, even when they had things going on in their personal life, but they wouldn’t let her retreat into herself.
Add in the friendship between Zach and Sebastian, one where Zach leads but doesn’t push him into realizing his true feelings.
And Coach. Let’s just say I loved the little surprise nugget of information we got on Coach.
The overall vibes of this book are fun. We get lots of banter, plenty of emotion, and a realistic approach to the start of a relationship that’s supposed to be friends with benefits but leads into so much more.
