How To Fall in Lust with a Devil by Lola Glass Review

After reading the first two books in the Deceit and Devotion series, I ran to grab How To Fall In Lust With A Devil by Lola Glass. While I have a hard time picking favorites, Brynlee was up there on the list, potentially squeaking past the others so I was excited for her story.

Premise

Brynlee has been living in hell for the past year, okay, not literal hell, but it felt like it. Born the only human among three over-protective dragon shifter older brothers, the last thing she wanted was the oldest of them to practically move into her apartment with her. It was ruining all of her plans, including the one that would have her shed her mortality by willingly becoming a vampire.

Then when August gets called back to his job, she’s even more devastated when he leaves her in the hands of Bash Villin, how in the hell is she going to follow through on the plan that will keep her the same age as her friends and family, if his over-bearing ass is watching her 24/7?

My Thoughts

Brynlee, a human, is scared for what her future might look like now that her two best friends had immortal lifespans while she would age like other humans. That doesn’t add on the additional aspect that her brothers were all dragon shifters. While a pain her in butt, she loved them all dearly and didn’t want to grow old and die.

Unfortunately for her August, her oldest brother, has been living in her apartment and keeping watch over her. This was completely ruining her plans to seek out a vampire that could give her the long lifespan she desperately wanted.

To make matters worse, when August gets called back to work, running the supernatural jail, he leaves her with Sebastian Villin with the demand to watch over her night and day. The guy hasn’t hardly spoken to her, despite their connection via his brothers mating with her best friends.

Thanks to his mother, however, she’s got a plan to sneak out, still he finds a way to stop her from going through with the change. Suddenly she realizes that she is his potential mate, and if they accept the mate bond, she’d get that longer lifespan she wants. If only she could seduce the demon.

“I haven’t touched a woman since long before I realized I was yours. I sure as hell haven’t since then.” – How to Fall in Lust with a Devil by Lola Glass

In comes the tension and heat we love in Lola Glass books. While still technically a slow burn the two end up in situations of foreplay, dirty talk, and even some voyeurism. All of it leads to the super hot spice that blends seamlessly with the story.

“The next man who touches you forfeits his life, Brynlee.” “Including you?” “No. You belong to me.” “I belong to myself.” – How to Fall in Lust with a Devil by Lola Glass

Sebastian and Brynlee both struggle with with their emotions through the book, trying to determine if the mate bond is right for them. And while Brynlee is for it because she wants that long life span, he’s not convinced she realizes what she’s getting into.

This isn’t an instalove story, but one where their bond could save them but both are seeking more than that. We see them fall in love with each other, after all the banter of course.

“You don’t want to play this game with me, Brynlee.” He massaged the sides of my scalp lightly, not releasing his hold on my face. “You give me a number, and I’ll turn it into a checklist of men to kill.” – How to Fall in Lust with a Devil by Lola Glass

As with the previous books, we also get to see Rafe, Tatum, Zander, and Miles. However, the brother’s mother, who is hilarious, also plays a pretty big role in this book. I especially loved that we got to at least meet Brynlee’s brothers too.

While the last one had a few darker themes, this one was a return to the Hallmark-ish vibes, but heavier on the spice than the previous two books. But not too much and not in an overly done way.
