If there is one expectation I had for The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane, it was laugh out loud moments from the Circle of Trust. This book delivered that and so much more. Not only did we get “simpage,” loads of unhinged MMC behavior, and those moments that made you love these characters to begin with, but we also get a story of loyalty, heart-breaking trauma, and banter for days.

My Thoughts
Before I picked up The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane, I had to do a reread of the entire series. I wanted to remember all the little details from previous books that she likes to sprinkle in as sort of inside jokes, and I remembered why I loved this series to begin with.
“Are your pickup lines always this bad?” “Not always,” I said, shrugging. “But I figured I’d start slow. Give you time to fall in love with me.” – The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane
However, after reading the first and second chapters of this book, I knew it was going to be something different.
While every FMC and even the MMC’s have past trauma that haunts them, this book took that to a whole new level. We are dealing with familial grooming of a teenager who was then forced into sex trafficking. What’s worse is that our main character, Sloane, was made to feel like she chose this life for herself.
“If she wouldn’t date me, I would hire her. I’d pay whatever it took to make sure she didn’t have time for any other clients. For as long as it took… Until she fell in love with me.” – The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane
Logan would do absolutely anything for Sloane, and as her past is revealed to him he recognizes the type of trauma Sloane is dealing with. He’s patient with her on an emotional level that she needs while also refusing to let the progress she makes in healing slide away when her abuser tries to pull her back in.
To make this book even better, there is a sense of found family within the entire Circle of Trust. The women accept her, and are there for her in ways that she desperately needed, while not judging her. And the men are supportive and helpful while Logan tries to navigate removing her from the life she was forced into.
“I think no matter how awful your parents are, every child carries that dream of who they wish their parents could be. Sometimes missing them…actually means missing that dream.” – The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane
It was those moments of found family that had tears filling my eyes.
So while this book had a whole lot of emotional depth in just the main plot, we also got emotional moments in the spice. Sloane is a woman whose body was forced into sexual servitude. She’s been used and abused and has no idea what pleasure feels like because no one ever worried about her.
“You’re already enough, Sloane. You just don’t see it yet.” – The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane
Logan patiently teaches her all of the ways she can enjoy pleasure, and encourages her to explore. While dominant it’s more in a soft dom way, and he knows when to let her take control, something she’d never experienced before.
“I’m such a tyrant, telling you that you’re not allowed to fake orgasms with me.” – The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane
Watching both of these characters stand up for themselves and for each other, learning to love themselves, and healing from their broken pasts is beautiful. I absolutely loved everything about this book.
“If it isn’t a little crazy…is it even love?” – The Pucking Wrong Rookie by CR Jane
Overall the book had a lot of dark themes, and while our MMC was protective, obsessed, and willing to do anything to get the girl, it had a sweetness to it that I couldn’t get enough of.
