I don’t know if you’re ready for Ari Lancaster and The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane. He’s the obsessed, over-protective, and possessive MMC we all love, except if you think he’s a broody one, you’d be wrong. The man is a golden retriever through and through.

My Thoughts
Ari and Blake (formerly Layla) met in a group home after her parents died in a murder suicide. Becoming fast friends Ari immediately wanted to protect her, except they were torn apart when Layla was adopted by the Shepfields and they changed her name to Blake.
“Because now that I’d found her…Now that I could breathe…You could fucking bet I would never let her go again.” – The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane
Her adoptive parents held high expectations for Blake, especially her adopted mother – Maura. They were high society and Blake was to look and act a certain way. While she pursued modeling, the industry only made her self hate worse.
Blake’s story is a heartbreaking one filled with expectations she felt she could never quite meet and the way that affected her mental health. However, it’s Ari’s complete acceptance of her as well as his never ceasing desire to be with her that especially shines on page.
Ari is willing to do just about anything to get her away from the boyfriend she turned down a marriage proposal from, and keep her as his. And on some level you’ll feel bad for Clark, there is no denying the chemistry, intimacy, and almost destined outcome for Ari and Blake.
“You should probably put him on notice then, sunshine,” he murmured with a slightly crazed grin. “Of what?” I whispered. “Of the fact he’s about to lose his girl.” – The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane
The spice scenes in this book are plentiful, with plenty of tension, flirting, and a lot of dirty talk between the characters. The chemistry jumped off the page between these two and I loved every single minute of reading this book.
“I’m scared,” I finally murmured. His smile was heartbreaking…life saving…everything. “I know, sunshine. But I knew what you were the moment I met you.” “Oh yeah, and what is that?” “Mine,” he said softly, without a trace of indecision. – The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane
Speaking of chemistry, can we take a second to talk about the friendship between Ari and Lincoln (From The Pucking Wrong Number) and how fantastic it was. These two are hilarious and while Ari may not fully grasp the level of crazy that Lincoln is, he’s learning and he’s here for it.
“So you’ve come to the master, young grasshopper,” Lincoln mused. – The Pucking Wrong Guy by CR Jane
Add in his budding friendship with Walker Davis aka Disney, and you get this almost found family feel. While Walker may be a bit of a simp for Lincoln, and no one blames him, his friendship with Ari is almost adorable.
As I mentioned earlier this is a dark hockey romance, so the vibes are romantic comedy for the slightly unhinged dark sense of humor people.
