Where’s Molly by HD Carlton is the story of none other than Molly. If you haven’t read the Cat and Mouse duet yet, you will need to read that first. Furthermore, do not continue with this post as it will contain spoilers for the Cat and Mouse duet.
Where’s Molly by HD Carlton
Where’s Molly by HD Carlton is a dark romance spin-off from the Cat and Mouse duet. It was published on February 26th, 2024 and is 243 pages long. You can find the book on Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, and the author’s website here.
Premise
Molly disappeared without a trace, and the only person raising any alarms was the convenient store attendant who saw her carted off by her own father and a stranger. While the world was enraptured by the strange disappearance, Molly was only hoping to survive the house she’d been locked in. There she was being trained, would be sold, and no one would ever see her again. But there was one name making her hold on, Layla, her baby sister.
And when Molly finally did escape that hell house, she knew exactly where she was headed next.

My Thoughts
I repeat! There are spoilers for the Cat and Mouse duet below.
Molly is the woman who’s journal Adeline found and read while she was captured. With the exception of Francesca claiming Molly escaped, we never really knew for sure what happened to her. How did she end up being in the house to begin with? And did her sister survive?
Where’s Molly holds all the answers and I will try my best to not spoil anything in this review.
Molly has not had an easy life, and while she had finally escaped it, she was pulled closer to the hell she had escaped simply because of the love she had for her younger sister. The book moves forward and backward in time with quite a few jumps as her full story is revealed to us.
Cage helped Molly disappear thanks to a man who goes by Legion. Except Molly is someone he wasn’t quite ready to let go of, though he did. When he arrives on her pig farm, to deliver the bodies of a few bad people, and he realizes she’s back, he’s sure he’ll never let go of her again.
“Mainly because I fucked her thoroughly before I gave her a brand-new identity. Then, she disappeared on me—just like she was supposed to. And it fucking enraged me. Now, she stares at me like a tiny rabbit caught in a trap, squealing to be freed. She escaped me once, and I let her. I won’t allow it a second time.” – Where’s Molly by HD Carlton
There was quite a bit of spice throughout this book, but in usual HD Carlton fashion, all of the spice was tied heavily into the plot. While there is a bit of darkness in this book, the scenes are not nearly as dark as they were in the Cat and Mouse duet.
“Baby, if you keep playing hard to get, I’ll fucking move in. Now, let’s clean up and shower before I decide I’m hungry again.” – Where’s Molly by HD Carlton
However, there is a bit of angst in this book when dealing with our main characters. Cage has found the woman he intends on spending the rest of his life with, while Molly has grown accustomed to living completely on her own. She doesn’t want someone else interfering in her life, or so she tells herself.
“Don’t be fooled, little ghost, I will own you even after you’ve disappeared. You may vanish, but your soul will always be mine.” – Where’s Molly by HD Carlton
However, it Cage’s mother, who seems to break through her introverted ways with her sharp wit, and out of pocket comments. For the first time, Molly is starting to feel like maybe she can open up and let someone in. And that terrifies her.
Overall the vibes of Where’s Molly by HD Carlton are dark and gritty with a touch of gore. Molly runs a pig farm where the pigs are fed a pretty steady diet of horrible people who deserved to die.
