Reckless by Elsie Silver was an emotional roller coaster I wasn’t prepared to experience. Winter’s redemption arc, Theo’s dirty mouth, and a twist that will leave you absolutely heartbroken for the both of them. I absolutely loved everything about this book.
Reckless by Elsie Silver
Reckless by Elsie Silver is the fourth book in the Chestnut Springs series. It is a small town second chance romance published on June 9th, 2023. It’s 466 pages that I couldn’t put down for a second. It can be found on Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, and on the author’s website here.
Premise
Winter isn’t having a good time at life, especially not when she finds out her husband is a piece of shit and divorce is in her future. So the last thing she needs is Theo Silva endlessly flirting with her. She’s a married woman still, and even if she wasn’t, how could she ever trust another man. Well, maybe one night wouldn’t hurt. Until one night turned into two pink lines and the one thing she wanted in life was staring in her face.

My Thoughts
I was not looking forward to this book. I knew a redemption arc was happening for Winter but she had so royally pissed me off in the first book that I was ready to spite read this book. And I’m almost positive I heard Elsie laugh and laugh and laugh.
Not only did Winter win me over, but I identified with her so much. My heart broke for her, and then I was filled with such pride over her strength. And I can imagine Elsie rubbing her hands together like an evil villain knowing damn well she was about to make everyone fall for someone she made us hate to begin with.
“I think people mistake you being in a bad mood when you’re just overwhelmed. I think you needed to lie here for a few minutes with no one needing you. I think you’re overstimulated and even the best of us require some time to collect ourselves.” – Reckless by Elsie Silver
Not only did this book make me laugh with the snark and banter, but it made me cry, kept me up late, and at one point want to throw my tablet across the room. It was an emotional roller coaster.
So far in this entire series we had some pretty great dirty talk, then I get hit with this book and I’m on the floor. Like Theo, sir, what are you trying to do to me? Not only was he witty but damn, this man was hot AF.
“Watch your fucking tone when you’re talking to the mother of my child.” – Reckless by Elsie Silver
Spice scenes aside, there was an incredible amount of character growth. The redemption arc, getting into Winter’s head, all of the insecurities she felt after her divorce. That doesn’t even touch on the absolute way Theo immediately won me over when I wanted to hate him so bad in the beginning of the book.
As usual the side characters make this entire series. Elsie has this way of being able to make the reader feel like they are just as much a part of this family. The characters stay true to themselves through the entire series too.
“I could fucking bury whoever made you believe you’re as unlovable as you seem to think.” – Reckless by Elsie Silver
There is a pretty big twist in this book, but I’m trying really hard not to spoil anything with this recommendation so I won’t say anything about it, just that it exists.
Look, this was rom com through and through. It was funny, and sweet, and so perfect for that cozy read with just a bit of drama and angst.
