Dirty Deals Over Decaf Book Review

I’m not ashamed to admit that a quote caught my attention, which is exactly how I found Dirty Deals Over Decaf by Eden Crowe. One quote did it for me and I said, “Yup, I’m gonna read that.” The added bonus of finding a relatively new author and absolutely falling in love with her writing style makes it all the more better, except that once I finish book two in this series, I’ll be waiting patiently for more to come.

“Oh, absolutely. God gets a bit touchy when you start asking questions of his universe. Bit of a narcissistic move, if you ask me. Make you lot in his own image and then get all bent out of shape when none of you like yourselves. Who could’ve seen that coming?” – Dirty Deals Over Decaf by Eden Crowe

Premise

After her divorce Lila decides to start fresh in a brand new town, Mistwood. While the town has a lot of cute places to visit, she doesn’t know that the town is filled with monsters. Oh and that cute little book store she was so excited to visit, yeah it’s owned by a demon, one who is ready to make a deal with her.

Except the original deal goes up in flames when tragedy strikes. The demon, Azrael Blackthorn, has decided he wants something a little more unique from Lila. So while he’ll offer his services and grant her wish, he’s also hoping to gain something more than her soul.

  • Divorce
  • Self isolation

  • Feelings of anxiety, loneliness, and not belonging
  • Graphic sexual content is between consenting adults and includes monster anatomy, tail play, horn play, praise kink, stretching, spanking, rimming, and double penetration.

My Thoughts

This was a fantastic quick read that helped to cure a reading slump and I’ll absolutely be coming back for more with this author. The town is set in our modern day West Virginia, but the monsters that hide inside of it are relatively unknown to humans. It was funny, witty, featured a plus size FMC and a he falls first situation.

There was plenty of good spice in this short book, including a rather large scene. The tension, and story leading up to the payoff was amazing too. I typically don’t expect much from novellas but this book delivered a hell of a lot more than I thought it could.

We know that I love when there is good character growth in a book, but I don’t expect it in a shorter book. Yet, Eden still delivered as we got to see Lila grow to accept herself even more.

My second favorite thing I love in a book are amazing side characters, and Dirty Deals Over Decaf had some amazing ones. A town filled with paranormal monsters who made the town the exact type of charming place I wish existed in real life. I desperately want to go to a diner owned by Goatman and Chupacabra, if only it wasn’t in fiction only.

Overall vibes for Dirty Deals Over Decaf by Eden Crowe is paranormal fun in a small town setting, with plenty of monster action. There aren’t many plot twists, but you’ll fall in love with the different types of creatures living in Mistwood.
