In Good Company by Kat Singleton released earlier this month, so when it popped up on my suggested book with Kindle Unlimited, I grabbed it immediately. As a fan of the Black Tie Billionaires series, which is on my reread list so I can post a few reviews soon, I knew I’d love the latest series by Kat Singleton.

My Thoughts
Kat Singleton has done it again. I was hooked on her Black Tie Billionaires series and now I’m hooked on the Pembroke Hills series.
Lucy is relatable and hard working with a bit of sassiness. At first you think Cal is the broody billionaire type but he’s a golden retriever through and through. The two of them together are perfect.
Cal is eleven years old than his brother, Ollie, who used to date Lucy. Their breakup wasn’t all that bad, except that Ollie started dating Lucy’s best friend shortly after they broke up. She’s over it, but she doesn’t exactly want to be reminded of the betrayal.
“I thought I spoke pretty clearly. You’ve spent the entire night berating your own staff, and quite honestly, I’m sick of it. So let me say this nice and slow for you. Do. Not. Talk. To. Her. That. Way.” – In Good Company by Kat Singleton
So when Cal asks Lucy to be his personal chef in the Hampton’s for the summer, her initial reaction is no. I found it hilarious the way Cal’s interest increased with each time Lucy declined his offer. Once she finally accepted, Cal continued to confuse Lucy by insisting she eat with him, trying to help out, and basically interfering with her job.
The banter between these two only increased how tension they shared. That tension flew off the page, until finally they … kissed! You know the tension is good when you kick your feet and giggle over a kiss, before you even get to the spicy bits.
“She does listen to me after all. Good girl.” – In Good Company by Kat Singleton
There were quite a few good spicy scenes in this book, but not so many that it felt repetitive. Really the plot was what moved the book forward and had me flipping pages. The spice fit in well within the plot.
“You can’t rush focaccia, Cal. It takes time.” “Me savoring every fucking moment of making you mine takes time.” – In Good Company by Kat Singleton
While I wouldn’t say that Cal had a lot of character growth in the book, Lucy was the one that needed it the most. Stubborn and fiercely independent, she wasn’t great about opening up about her past or even what her future held for her. She very much was living in the present.
This created problems for Cal when he was fighting for a future with her. While she shared some of her dreams with him, and he listened and understood the assignment, she was very closed off and determined to keep it a summer only relationship.
I’m immediately hoping for a Jude book upon meeting the character, as Cal’s best friend he was great at teasing Cal over his growing feelings for Lucy, but he’s also the one that will fight for his friends.
And while Jude was my favorite this book had a whole hell of a lot of found family aspects that I absolutely loved. Including getting to see the Black Tie Billionaires and their significant others again.
Also we did get a few sneak peeks into what the next book in the series will hold with Ryker and Camille and I am very excited to see that.
If you are looking for a great summery beach read, this is a fantastic book. And maybe I was just extra ooey-gooey but I did shed a few tears toward the end of this book. So maybe have a tissue available.
