Hello Lovelies!
If you haven’t read the About page yet, then I highly recommend you click over to that post to learn a bit about well me, the woman behind this blog, how I got started, and why I’m doing this.
In this post you’ll find out more about exactly what my methods of reviewing are, plans for future guest posts from readers, and why I’ll still be a great source for all your spicy book recommendation needs.
First and foremost, the books I recommend on this website are not intended for anyone under the age of 18. I read spicy books, or books with explicit content that is inappropriate for children. Likewise, I am not paid to babysit any children, therefore I do not take responsibility for any child but my own and he couldn’t care less about what I do for a living. No angry emails from moms who found this website in their child’s web history allowed. There are plenty of articles that will help you block websites, go Google those.
Terms You Should Be Aware of Going Forward
Just a little glossary of most used terms and acronyms I’ll be using on this blog.
TBR – To Be Read
DNF – Did Not Finish
Romantasy – Fantasy romance
Dark Romance (DR) – Contains dark themes in the relationship itself, i.e. stalking, obsession, a character willing to step outside the bounds of societal accepted boundaries to win another character.
Romantic Suspense – Contains dark themes surrounding the relationship but the relationship itself is within the bounds of societal accepted boundaries.
Mood Reader – A person who reads based on the mood they are in.
Why Choose – A grouping of 3 and more main characters in a relationship together.
Gender (or none):
M – Male
F – Female
N – Non-Binary (see note)
TM/TF – Trans Male or Trans Female (see note)
X – Unknown/Not meant to be known (see note)
Pairings:
MFMM, MMFMM, etc. variations, anything before the F are also romantically involved with each other and anything after the F are only involved with the F while sharing her with the others.
NOTE: These acronyms or letters are simply how I do it but not necessarily how others do it. If we have a mostly standardized way of describing gender, please let me know.
Type of Content to Expect
I will be sharing book reviews and recommendations galore on this blog. I read a LOT, and since most of what I read I like, I will be sharing my thoughts. However, there is a caveat to that statement.
I will NOT write critiquing reviews. First off, it’s just not my thing and never was. Even before I became an author I typically stayed away from critiquing reviews, and you won’t find them here. I prefer to gush and rave over all of my favorite books.
The second reason for not doing critiquing reviews is because I prefer to support authors. So books that I didn’t care for, may still end up in recommendation posts with a paragraph about what can be found inside. I have been known to DNF a book because of a Trigger (which I don’t have a lot of) and still recommend the book to someone because that was exactly what they were looking for.
It’s probably important for you to also know that I often recommend based on vibes. If a book can make me feel some sort of emotion, I’m likely going to love it and rave about it on this blog. You will find everything from books that will leave you staring at the wall in complete shock over the powerful messaging and emotions that came from reading it and inanimate object shifter romances that have you questioning why you found it appealing. So… take what you want from me and leave the rest because I will rave over both equally. No book genre snobbery here.
As I mentioned previously, I will be doing recommendation posts as well. These posts will typically have several books in which I’ll share the general plot, any emotions I may have had, if there are triggers to check for, and what I enjoyed most about the book. If I have a full review of a book, I will try to link it into the recommendation post as well so you can find out more information.
Finally, if you’re wondering if I’ll be someone you want to get recommendations from for all your spicy goodness. Just take a look through some of my reviews and recommendations. If you are seeing a lot of the same books you loved, chances are pretty high we seem to like the same things. If not, well then my recommendations may not be for you, and that’s good. There are loads of readers out there sharing what they are reading and your reading doppelganger is out there waiting for you to find them.
Self Promotion, but…
The answer is yes, I will be doing some self promotion of my own books on this website. Honestly, it would be ridiculous to expect me not to, because marketing as an indie author is difficult.
However, here’s what I can promise you. I will always put in a little Shameless Self Promo anytime my own books show up in recommendation posts and I won’t be doing reviews of my books.
This blog is meant more for me to share the books I love and help other authors, indie and a few traditionally published. If you want to hear all about my own books, my author site will have all that information for you. Here it’s about allowing myself to just read, enjoy reading, and share what I’m reading. So the SSP’s won’t be often but it will happen from time to time and I just wanted to make sure you are aware of it.
What I Read
Basically if it’s spicy romance, I will read it.
No, this does not mean I have a spicy addiction, I just prefer to get all aspects of the relationship and the intimacy shared between the main characters. Additionally, the name of the blog is Spicy Book Club, it’s about spicy books and that is what I will be sharing here.
Understand that doesn’t mean I won’t read non-spicy, or closed door, books. I just don’t do it often. If you are looking for those types of books, I am positive there is a blog out there for you, but it’s not this one.
Finally…
Now that you know what to expect from me, start browsing around for your next spicy romance read. I hope you find something you love. If you want to find out more about what I write, you can check out my author website here.
