Falcon by April D Berry Review

Falcon by April D Berry Review

I’ll be honest with my latest recommendation of Falcon by April D Berry, I am not a big motorcycle club romance reader. I don’t have anything against it, I just don’t often read them. That wasn’t the case here because I am a huge fan of April D Berry. So naturally, if she writes it I’m gonna read it, and she might have changed my mind on MC romances in the process.

Premise

Daisy didn’t expect a man to walk into her work, start a fight, and then save her and her friend from the prostitution ring they’d been forced to work in. She knows nothing about Falcon, or the motorcycle club he’s in, so when they bring her back to their club in Georgia, her first instinct is to run. That didn’t quite work out well for her, but she quickly realizes this may just be the safest place for her. For Falcon though, he’d do anything to keep Daisy.

Triggers found in Falcon by April D Berry include:

My Thoughts

April D. Berry has stepped over to the darker side by writing a romantic suspense. If you’ve read any of her other books while she will sometimes deal in heavy topics most of her books fall on the cute side of romance. So when a little birdie (April) told me she was diving into darker things my little blackened heart let out a shout of joy.

April did not disappoint because of course I stayed up late reading, flipping pages to find out what happened next, and swooned over our main couple. She gave me all those signature cozy vibes of an April D Berry romance and a suspenseful action packed plot.

Like most of April’s books, this one is plot heavy but the spice hits just before the half way mark and there are plenty of scenes that follow it through the rest of the book. What I love most about how April writes spice is that she gives us plenty of that tension and “will they won’t they.”

While her spice might not be especially kinky compared to some other books I read, there is always consent and I can always count on it being the perfect blend of spicy and sweet.

“I was waiting for you to see what this was, darlin’, and to be ready, so don’t mistake my patience for indifference.” – Falcon by April D Berry

In Daisy we did see a lot of character growth. She’s healing from trauma, learning to trust after a horrific experience, and claiming her life and autonomy back. It was absolutely beautifully done. Falcon pretty much remains consistent through the whole book. He’s a protective one, who respects boundaries, but will fight for Daisy even when she doesn’t know how to fight for herself.

“Anything at all you want, darlin’, just say the word and it’s yours.” – Falcon by April D Berry

Of course Mama Hen is at the top of the list for favorite side characters. Some of that might be because I know the inspiration behind this character as well and Mama Hen is an icon. Jeannie, Lacy, Eagle, and Jackal also make appearances on my list of faves.

Thankfully Eagle is the next book in the series, and Jackal is coming soon and I cannot wait to read it.

If you are looking for found family vibes along with a splash of danger, an ongoing plot, and a sweet romance, this is a book and series you will likely want to start reading.
