It’s no big surprise that I love me some mafia romance. The first series I ever completed was a mafia romance series. Is mafia great in real life, nope. But in fiction? The completely obsessed morally grey man who is over-the-top protective and possessive? Hell yes.
If you’re here, it’s because you need those recs and I’ve got a bunch for you. Today we are focusing on mafia romance series that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend, along with a little shameless self promo. So let’s dive in.
Mafia Romance Series Recs
Please make sure you check the trigger warnings on all of the books below. Your mental health matters and all of these are dark romance.
Perfectly Imperfect Series by Neva Altaj
The Perfectly Imperfect Series follows a couple of different Mafia families in a couple of different cities, but each one features a character with a disability. Be it mental or physical, born with it or developed it, the characters are all well represented in this series.
This happens to be one of my all time favorite Mafia romance series. I believe the author did a fantastic job representing the disabilities that her characters have. There are currently 10 books in the series, and I cannot wait for the end of July when the next book in the series releases.

Fallen God by Gabrielle Sands
The Fallen God duet follows a high up officer within the mafia who was forced to leave his life behind and move to a small town in the middle of no where. Adapting isn’t easy especially he becomes obsessed with his next door neighbor. That is until his old life comes back to find him and he has to do whatever is necessary to protect her, including potentially dying at the hands of his enemy.
I loved this duet, it was an interesting premise while also having all of those key elements we love to see in our mafia men. Obsessed, possessive, and over-the-top protective. Additionally, our FMC was a bit of a bad ass too, she’s not a damsel and isn’t afraid to handle anything she needs to.

Kings of Mafia by Michelle Heard
Kings of Mafia follows the heads of the five families in New York, each book is a complete standalone however, I think reading them in order gives you more insight into the stories behind each of the men. We get obsessed, protective, possessive mafia men, and the perfect blend of spice and plot with each book.
Michelle Heard does an excellent job of writing mafia, and is one of my go-to authors when I want to read a mafia romance that follows the more traditional lore behind the mafia. She does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life and make you care about each of them.

Deadly Hearts by Eve Newton
The Deadly Hearts Trilogy by Eve Newton takes our typical mafia story and flips it, because this time our mafia leader is a woman. A strong, powerful, no bullshit woman who dominates a heavily patriarchal business. It is a why choose, meaning our FMC will end up with multiple love interests, but the books need to be read in order.
If you want to see a badass mafia queen, the men who would die for her, and kill for her, with a fantastic plot of keeping her place on her throne, this is the series for you. It’s got heat, plot, while not following the typical mafia narrative.

Alliance Series by SJ Tilly
Mafia or at least heavy mafia vibes, each book in the Alliance series follows the men of the Alliance. A group that keeps the mafia under it’s thumb. Be it in business, as a head of a family, in pure fear, or in controlling organized crime, each of the men has a job to do.
As you probably already know I am an SJ Tilly fan, well it’s because of this series that I became a fan. Each of the men in the Alliance series are obsessive, protective, and a bit possessive in the most unhinged ways. We love a good stalker, forced marriage, marriage of convenience, and again stalker on this blog.

Also you can check out my recommendations on all four books below:
Torrio Empire by JL Beck
The Torrio Empire is a best friend’s dad romance. It is dark, twisted, and a must read for mafia romance fans. Our MMC is an older man who runs a mafia style operation while his daughter is friends with the daughter of a detective. Still he manages to keep everything under wraps. At least until he starts becoming obsessed with the friend, and soon that obsession takes over completely.
Talk about red flag men, while there isn’t any interest until after our FMC is an adult, the large age gap is extremely taboo. Add in how he’s desperate to make sure she sticks around, by any means necessary, and you have a read that will have you questioning where a breeding kink even came from.

New York Ruthless by Sadie Kincaid
If you’ve read anything by Sadie Kincaid you know exactly what you are getting into with her books. A perfect blend of hotter than hell spice with a plot that will keep you reading well past your bedtime and the New York Ruthless series is no different.
A why choose series featuring the Irish mafia, and the hacker they steal away from the Russians. While our FMC is just fighting to survive she doesn’t expect that she’ll fall for the Ryan’s and that they’ll fall for her, they are ruthless after all.

Unrelenting by Jayne Katway
A bit of shameless self promotion here, but I did write a mafia romance series and wanted to include it in this list. Unrelenting follows the Teresi men as they work to take over the family businesses both legitimate and not-so-much. Each book is a standalone following a different man and the woman he becomes obsessed with.
Readers have reported that they loved the heat, spice, and banter in this series. Along with that there is a found family aspect between the women who are not afraid to take on a fight alongside each other and their men.
Monsters and Muses by Sav R Miller
Promises and Pomegranates was one of the first mafia romance books I ever read. And the whole series kept me hooked. Each book is a standalone following a different couple, and while I highly recommend reading them in order, it’s not completely necessary.
If you love secrets, betrayal, over the top possessive, protective and obsessive men, I highly recommend this series. And while some of the books aren’t tied back to the mafia, there are ties that connect it all.

Tarnished Empire by Shain Rose
A mafia family gone legit the Armenelli’s are powerful and anyone who goes against them loses. However, things aren’t as legit as the world seems to think it is. With ties to the government, thriving businesses, and women who’ve captured every single part of their being, these men will do anything – legal or not – to win.
Each book is a complete standalone, but I highly recommend reading them all as you learn a lot more about these men and the history that haunts them. These books had me in a chokehold and to this day are some of my favorite Shain Rose books.

Why a Mafia Romance Series?
Part of why I love to read a full mafia romance series is because of the loyalty and found family aspects that are typically found in Mafia romance. These men are morally grey, walking red flags, but they are obsessed with the women they fall for. And every now and then they’ll mess up and need to grovel for forgiveness too.
